All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which will be provided upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Brighouse, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions can differ based on vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid full driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment details and a security deposit, as well as meet any further conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or at our Brighouse office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total balance, along with a security deposit, is usually payable upon vehicle pickup. All pricing is listed in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT, where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment partners.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, please conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and must be signed by both parties. It is your responsibility to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and fees will be applied as necessary. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will be incurred if it is returned with less fuel. If you anticipate returning the vehicle later than agreed, contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may result in additional fees. You will also be accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges that arise during your rental period, in addition to an administration fee.
5. Coverage and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to limit your financial exposure. It is beneficial to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damages or loss up to the insurance excess unless additional coverage is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage in place.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, off-roading, or any dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose and within stipulated passenger and weight limits. Driving outside designated geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Brighouse accepts no responsibility for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount paid in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in this region.
